I've been a busy girl baking... are you surprised?
I whipped up some chocolate-cherry cupcakes for Valentine's Day a couple of week's ago. A surprise cherry in the middle of the cupcake and I flavoured the buttercream with the maraschino cherry juice. They were really good!
I also made cupcakes for my niece's first birthday party. They were just plain vanilla with vanilla buttercream. To make them special, I made white chocolate butterflies to add on top. For my first time making these, I think they turned out adorable.
I think the pink tint in that picture is coming from a balloon...but I loved this butterfly shot so I had to share!
I also tried out my mini doughnut pan that I got for Christmas. I just used leftover cupcake batter for the doughnuts. They turned out so good - soft, delicious, and easy to pop out of the pan! I just mixed icing sugar and water together to make the glaze and added sprinkles. I can't wait to make more mini doughnuts!
I was asked by Da Nerdette to contribute to her site, DN! Extraordinaire. I will be sharing nerdy recipes and nerdy products on her site. I just finished up my first post, which is for Potato Chip Chocolate Chip Cookies. I whipped them up yesturday and they are so good. Check out the recipe and post here.
How was everyone's weekend? Mine has flown by since I worked both days. I'm looking forward to sitting on the couch and watching Once Upon a Time tonight.
