Life Changes & Goals

We moved to Welland a little over a year ago. Since our move life hasn’t settled down…. There was looking for a new job in the area, getting engaged, planning a wedding and all the events that surround a wedding. I thought life would go back to ‘normal’ once we got back from the honeymoon… though I’m not sure what normal is anymore… I was ready to start my countdown to Adam’s graduation so we would finally know where we were moving and settling down. But out of nowhere a new job fell in my lap. And it’s actually a good one! The thought of managing a small toy store might just be a dream come true. We’ll see if I feel the same once I start dealing with customers and pregnant ladies. But it’s 5 minutes from my apartment which means I can walk to work and no more commuting! I will be saving 2 hours every day not commuting… what will I do with all this extra time?!?!

Between trying to wrap my head around this sudden change and trying to get more organized about my crafting, life is exhaust…

Fall Fashion

I don't know what's up with the weather but the last 2 days have been abnormally warm for the last week of September. I only wore tights and boots a handful of times this month which is highly disappointing. Hopefully October brings some cooler days. There's just something about tights and boots. I love it. I guess I'm just a girl.

As you can probably tell from previous posts I've been loving Pinterest. It's a great site for inspiration and if you're bored you're bound to find some things you like or that will make you smile.

Well it's time for bed which is a good and a bad thing... as tired as I am I'll be sleeping with the fan on since it's so warm in here.. ugh!

My Week in Pictures

I'm so happy that it's officially Fall! It definitely snuck up on me but since it's my favourite season I don't mind at all. Last weekend I spent time at the Niagara Regional Exhibition. It was fun walking around and checking out the petting zoo, horses, and poultry barn. And even though I didn't go on any rides or play any games I like walking around the carnival part of the festival.

I've been trying to enjoy the cooler weather this past week. We've gone on some walks around the Welland canal, fed ducks, and even went for a morning jog. I'm excited for the leaves to start changing more and for cooler nights. Next weekend is the Niagara Food Festival and I'm hoping for great fall weather so I can head to the festival each day for lunch... there's no excuse not to when the festival is happening 5 minutes from my apartment.

I have more pictures from this past week uploaded on flickr. I've been slowly updating etsy as well this week. There&#…

Fall TV

Has anyone been watching some of the new Fall TV shows? So far I've caught Up All Night, 2 Broke Girls, and New Girl. I actually really like all 3 of the shows.

Of course, because of my love for Zooey Deschanel, I've been waiting for New Girl to start. I love that they're using the word 'adorkable' to describe the main character, Jess, that Zooey plays. She was adorable in the entire first episode and it's funny how I actually saw myself in some of her awkward moments because being sexy and smooth is so foreign to me. haha.

I didn't know what to expect for 2 Broke Girls. I love Kat Dennings and all the roles I've seen her in. But this show surprised me. I really liked the witty writing and Kat's one-liners were pretty funny. I'm excited to see the upcoming episodes.

Updates

What a quick weekend! I can't believe it's back to work tomorrow already. I had a great weekend at home though. I was quite productive and was able to do some things I've been putting off for a while now.

Etsy photos were taken this weekend since the weather was beautiful and their was lovely natural light coming in our windows. I'll be slowly updating etsy over the next week or two since I have lots to put up! Keep checking for updates: http://www.sparklegirl.etsy.com/

I finally got around to making up a fan page - please head over to facebook to take a look: Sparklegirl Fan Page. I'll be using the page to update with shows I'm doing, etsy posts, blog posts, and photos of shows I've done. I currently use flickr to post my photos, which I will continue doing, but my fan page will just have photos of craft shows and conventions instead of my whole world.

Well it has been a busy weekend and the Emmys are now over so off to bed...

Comic Reading

It’s pretty crazy how large my Amazon wishlist is currently. I’ve been exposed to so many random graphic novels that I now need the follow-up volumes. It’s a good thing Christmas is coming up. I’m excited to continue my collections! Currently I’m reading Marvel Runaways. It’s a very quick read and I was half way through the first volume within two nights while reading just before bed.  I’m thoroughly enjoying the story. I love all the characters, especially Nico and Karolina. I’m excited to start Volume 2 this week. Next on my must-read list are some of the DC Comics’ The New 52. It’s no secret that I’m drawn to woman characters over men, especially when the woman are strong, kickass characters. I’m excited to get my hands on Batgirl  and Catwoman . I definitely want to check out Suicide Squadbecause of my love for Harley Quinn but her outfit makeover alone makes me weary. And because of all the love from The Nerdy Bird, I think I’ll check out Birds of Preyas well. Source:…

Supercrawl

This past Saturday was Supercrawl in Hamilton. It was an amazing day and insanely busy. They blocked off part of James Street and there were vendors set up everywhere and they had a few different stages set up. It was a beautiful day out so it was great that the festival started at 2 p.m. There were some great bands playing the show and I was able to listen to music all day. I loved that I could hear Said the Whale from my booth in the evening. And then while I packed up my booth I was able to dance to Broken Social Scene.

My booth...

My helper for the day...

Megan, my youngest cousin, has been attending craft shows with me for a while now. We have a lot of fun at the shows together. It's cute watching her take over the booth - she straightens up my table and makes change for me. It's a lot of fun having her there. The whole afternoon she was eyeing up some of the cute plush at Needlings' table. She had to buy a couple of Littles.

I'm looking forward to Supercrawl 2012…

Fall Favourite

It is now officially pumpkin-flavoured season! It is definitely my favourite time of the year for food and drinks. I’ve been told the Pumpkin Spice Latte is back on the Starbucks menu… and after working at Starbucks last Fall, I’m excited to order some drinks not on the menu that we experimented with – pumpkin chai latte, pumpkin spice cream, pumpkin spice frappucino… yum! Of course I’m excited to have some classic pumpkin pie. I found a no-bake pumpkin pie mix during our last trip to the U.S. shopping so that will probably be made and consumed fairly quickly! I’ve also been lucky in obtaining a few magazine Fall Specials – I found a recipe for pumpkin scones and pumpkin milkshakes! Oh and Indiespotting was nice enough to pass along a recipe for pumpkin cream cheese. Do you think it’s possible to get sick of pumpkin?? I’m going to guess probably not… Oh, and I already have plans for a pumpkin-flavoured cake for Thanksgiving! Currently, I’ve only consumed pumpkin chai tea …

Long Weekend

Today marks the end of the last long weekend for the summer. It's sad that summer's over since that means the hubby is back to school (last year though!) and he'll be busy studying but I can't deny the fact that I'm excited for Fall weather and food! I can't wait to eat pumpkin-flavoured everything... I'll save that for a later post however.

Friday evening and Saturday were a blast! We went to Niagara Falls for the night and took in some fun, yet tacky, attractions with family and friends. We got some funny pictures at the wax museum and the night flew by! My favourite part of Niagara Falls is checking out the Fudge Factory. You can watch them making the fudge and decorating the other decadent treats they sell.

After our evening of exploring Clifton Hill we went to Great Wolf Lodge and spent the night there. This of course meant we spent the majority of Saturday swimming and doing water slide after water slide. If you've never been to Great Wolf Lodge, …
